Woodsy Forest Kids Room
This Tahoe house was built in the 70’s and was in desperate need of a refresh. The client wanted to make the upstairs room into a room for their grandkids. We went for a woodsy forest theme to mimic the abundance of pine trees that surround the area—and bears! We saw baby brown bears running along the lakeside while working on this project.
The room is small, so there was some concern in painting the room a dark color. But there’s a misconception that dark walls shrink a room. Painting a dark room can actually the camouflage the fact that it’s small. And the deep navy we chose, along with the dark woodsy wall paper, creates the perception of depth. All-in-all, it’s a cozy, bold and fun place for the kids to retreat at the end of the day.
